Open Graph Generator
Generate Open Graph meta tags with a live preview of the shared link card.
Build the card meta tags for X and anything that reads them.
Title, description and image all fall back to Open Graph when the Twitter-specific tag is missing. The card type does not, so twitter:card is the one tag always worth setting.
Twitter Cards are the meta tags that control how a link appears on X. The tool builds them for the two card types people actually use: summary, which shows a small square thumbnail beside the text, and summary_large_image, which shows a wide image above it.
Several fields fall back to Open Graph when the Twitter-specific version is missing, which is why a page with good OG tags already previews reasonably. The tags worth setting explicitly are the card type, which decides the layout entirely, and the site and creator handles, which attribute the card to an account.
A preview draws both card types so you can see which suits your image. A wide card with a portrait photograph crops badly; a summary card with a detailed infographic shows nothing legible. The tool also warns when the image is likely to be rejected, since the platform has its own size and format limits.
The twitter card generator is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:
Summary puts a small square image beside the title and description. Large image puts a wide banner above them and takes much more room in a feed. Large image performs better for most content, provided your image works at a wide aspect ratio.
Not strictly. Title, description and image all fall back to the Open Graph equivalents. The card type does not fall back, so without twitter:card you get whatever default the platform chooses.
For large image cards, 1200 by 628 pixels or a similar wide ratio. For summary cards, a square image of at least 144 pixels. Keep files under 5 MB and use JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF.
Previews are cached. After changing tags, use the platform's own card validator to force a refresh, and expect existing posts to keep showing the old card.
Yes, both site and creator expect a handle beginning with an at sign. The tool adds it if you leave it off.
No. These tags are read by the social platform only. They affect engagement with shared links, not your position in search results.
