Schema Markup Generator
Generate Article, Product, LocalBusiness, Organization, Person and Event schema.
Generate BreadcrumbList markup and the matching HTML.
Breadcrumb markup tells search engines where a page sits in your site's hierarchy, which is why results often show a readable trail instead of a raw URL. This generator builds the BreadcrumbList JSON-LD from a list of names and URLs, and produces the matching HTML at the same time.
The HTML half matters. Structured data should describe something that exists on the page, so a breadcrumb trail in the markup with no breadcrumb on the page is backwards. The generated HTML uses a nav element with an aria-label and marks the current page with aria-current, which is what screen readers need to announce the trail correctly.
A shortcut fills the trail from a URL: paste a path and each segment becomes a level, with the slug converted into readable words. That gets you most of the way, and you can then fix the wording, which is usually all that is needed.
The breadcrumb schema generator is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:
Often yes. Search results commonly display a breadcrumb trail in place of the URL, which reads better and shows where the page sits. Markup makes that more reliable, though search engines can also infer it from your URL structure.
No. The current page is the last item and should be plain text, not a link. In the JSON-LD it still needs a position and a name; the item URL is optional for the final entry.
It should. Structured data is meant to describe visible content, which is why this tool generates the HTML alongside the markup.
Yes, if a page is genuinely reachable by several routes. Supply multiple BreadcrumbList objects in an array. Most sites do not need this.
Not exactly, though it usually should. The trail describes the site's logical hierarchy, which is normally what the URL reflects. A trail that contradicts the URL is confusing to both readers and search engines.
It marks the final item as the current page, so screen readers announce it as such rather than reading it as another step in the trail.
