About the SVG to PNG Converter

SVG to PNG renders a vector image as pixels at whatever size you choose. Vectors scale infinitely, which is their advantage, but plenty of places will not accept one: social platforms, older email clients, some document formats and most image editors want a raster file.

Because the source is vector, the output size is a free choice rather than a compromise. Rendering at two or three times the display size produces a file that stays sharp on high-density screens, and a scale control makes that a single setting rather than arithmetic.

Transparency is preserved by default, since most SVG logos rely on it. A background colour can be applied instead, which is what you want when the destination does not handle alpha. Fonts are the one thing to watch: text in an SVG renders using fonts available to your browser, so converting to paths before exporting avoids surprises.

How to use the SVG to PNG Converter

  1. Choose an SVG fileOr paste the SVG markup directly.
  2. Set the output sizeEnter dimensions, or use a scale multiplier.
  3. Choose transparency or a backgroundTransparent by default.
  4. Render and downloadThe PNG is produced at the exact size you set.

Who uses this tool

The svg to png converter is used by writers, developers, students, marketers and anyone else who needs the job done once without installing software. Common cases include:

  • Producing a PNG logo for a platform that rejects SVG
  • Rendering an icon at twice the size for a retina screen
  • Turning a vector chart into an image for a document
  • Creating a raster version of a diagram for email
  • Checking how an SVG renders before using it

Frequently asked questions

What size should I render at?

At least twice the size the image will be displayed, so it stays sharp on high-density screens. Rendering larger than that mostly adds file size without visible benefit.

Why does my SVG render at the wrong size?

Because it has no width and height attributes, only a viewBox, which means it has no intrinsic size. The tool uses the viewBox proportions and warns you, so set the dimensions you want explicitly.

Is transparency kept?

Yes by default. PNG supports an alpha channel, so a transparent SVG becomes a transparent PNG. Apply a background colour if the destination cannot handle transparency.

Why does the text look different?

SVG text renders using fonts available to the browser doing the rendering. If the SVG references a font you do not have installed, a substitute is used. Converting text to paths before export removes the dependency entirely.

Can I convert PNG back to SVG?

Not meaningfully. Tracing a raster image into vectors is a different and lossy process, and the result is rarely as clean as a vector drawn from the start.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The SVG is rendered by your browser onto a canvas and exported locally.
